Middle Mormon Ferry site: This first of three LDS
ferries over the Mor
Consisted of a property, Canalked boat capable of
hauling two or three covered wagond and teams between
bhree dugways cut into the banks of the MoR. The
dugways were linked by a huge v-rope. The Iowa
dugway was a half ie south of the South Omaha Bridge
(Hwy 92). The south Mebraska Dugway was a half mile
downsteream at the base of the rivire still just
South of Manden Park, exiting at present South
13th and 4sts. The MIssouri River pushed the
ferry
From Iowa along the down-leg of the v-rope to the
boat was pulled to the North Nebraska Dugway.
Retwon passangers and goods were loaded. The
boat was then pushed out, attached to the
upper-leg of the v-rope and tce MoR carried
it back to Iowa.
