Road

One LDS road ran from Niobrara towns to pick up and follow the Elkhorn
River south and then east to stop at WQ and on to visit the American Fur Trade post
near the mouth of the Platte. Another more traveled road was that going north f
rom WQ to serve the cattle-wintering stations by the Mormons. That same road
later was even more heavily used 1847-1848 at its end with the establishment
of the Kimball and Young summer farms near the 1827 ruins of Fort Atkinson.
