The Mormons spent seven years in the Missouri
Valley -- 1846-1853 -- staging people west, but
also building a network of roads, bridges, ferries,
farms, towns, schools, churches, businesses, work
shops, mills, cultural halls and civic buildings
the likes of which the American West had never seen.
Major Mormon towns and camps in Nebraska
included Cold Spring Camp, just north of L Street at
about 60th Street in present Omaha; Cutler's Park
situated along the west edge of Forest Lawn ceme-
tery, probably just north of Young Street and on
either side of present day Mormon Bridge Road.
